New Method Measures Localized Stiffness of Thin Paper Materials with a Single Test
Snapshot: Forest Products Laboratory researchers have developed a method to measure localized stiffness of thin paper materials with a single test. Although developed for use on problems in the paper industry, this equipment and analysis are equally useful for several other material systems: in aircraft, where many wing assemblies are designed with specific stiffness behaviors; in printing, where mis-registration can be caused by unintentional stiffness interactions; and in the textile industry, where stretchines and tactility have important stiffness components.
