Abstract: Results of two follow-up studies on the effectiveness of press-drying in reducing warp and grade loss from warp in plantation-grown loblolly pine lumber were compared with results of a previously published study. The results showed that press-drying does reduce warp and resultant grade loss, when compared to high-temperature kiln-drying in a laboratory dry kiln. When the most favorable press variables were used, grade loss from warp was reduced by more than 50 percent.
