Abstract: This presentation will share the research plan with regard to the performance of mass timber walls under blast loading. The project goal is to characterize the response of cross laminated timber (CLT) panels under blast loading and establish the inelastic and ultimate response limits of CLT structural systems in order to gain repeatable approval for CLT construction on United States military bases where there is currently little room for wood structural solutions. As a project that recently received funding from the United States Department of Agriculture Wood Innovation Grant program, the research is intended to support expansion of the United States wood products market.
