Trees such as tulip poplar that have been struck by lightning have been used as decorative wood. Red-heart box elder; diamond willow from Bebb willow (Salix bebbiana) and from feltleaf (Salix alaxensis), littletree (Salix arbuscoloides), Park (Salix monticola), and Scouler (Salix scoulerana)found in Alaska; bald cypress wood and knees; stump butts from tupelo gum and black gum; grafted fruitwoods; and even old knots and stumps of pine have market niches.
