Engineered Wood Products in Structural Systems for Residential Construction

Introduction - This video series presents the latest information on engineered wood products commonly used in residential construction. The information was developed to assist in design and specification of engineered wood in residential designs. In addition to the details highlighted in this video series, all applicable local building code requirements and all specifications established by the licensed professional for the project must be followed.

Video 1: Overview of Engineered Wood Products in Structural Systems for Residential Construction - This video provides an introduction to engineered wood products and presents best practices for residential design and installation. Engineered wood products are recognizable by the wood strands, fibers, lamina, or veneers that are bound with adhesives to maximize the strength of these products. Engineered to precise design specifications and national and international test standards, engineered wood products used in home construction fall into these broad categories: oriented strand board (OSB), plywood panels, structural composite lumber (SCL), structural glued laminated timber (glulam), and I-joists.   view

Video 2: Engineered Wood Floor Systems Best Practices - This video presents the latest information available on how to build a solid, high performance floor assembly using engineered wood products. This information was developed to assist builders, trades, and inspectors in installation and inspection of floor assemblies properly constructed with engineered wood products.   view

Video 3: (Hot Spot). Temporary Safety Bracing of an Engineered Wood Floor System - This Hot Spot video details safety and construction precautions in constructing an engineered wood floor system.   view
